As promised here is the second instalment of my Zurich travel guide, Zurich by night! I knew I was going to have to split these posts because although Zurich is beautiful during the day at night it transformed into a winter wonderland. Every building, lamp post and skyline was scattered with lights and decorations. It felt like walking around an entirely different city and we were mesmerised. See below for all the beautiful details…
I was so happy to see this as I’d read about it but had heard it was hard to spot, it’s a christmas tradition in Zurich that through the month of December Santa Claus drives his special tram through the city.
this hat was the best thing I packed all weekend, it rained on an off and wearing this meant I didn’t need to take an umbrella out with me
in case you were wondering those are roast potatoes with melted cheese on top… yes more melted cheese
the swarovski christmas tree, another thing on my Zurich bucket list. Absolutely stunning in person and I couldn’t help but treat my boyfriend and I to a tree ornament of our own as they were selling identical ones. Plus it’ll be a nice momento from our first holiday together to go on our first christmas tree
Only in Switzerland would they turn their national museum into a wonderland/giant party! This was called the Illuminarium, and it had a dozen different bars and food stalls (we refrained from eating more melted cheese)
I hope some of these pictures do it justice but Zurich at Christmas is something that has to be seen at least once in a lifetime
