With most of us cherishing those last few weeks of summer before we crack out the leather boots and chunky knits I thought I’d share a few body care items I’ve been using on an off for the past few months to keep myself shorts and cami ready.
Especially with the changing weather you never know when you’re going to want to change your skinny jeans to denim cut-offs and working full time means I don’t have time for a thick lotion to sink in but I found some low maintenance body care products that are both good value for money and seriously amazing formulas that leave my skin feeling soft and glowing.
I first found this Nivea body my body mousse last summer in the Rasbury scent in Morrison’s and I originally thought it was meant for the shower. A happy mistake as when I got home I found it was one of the nicest light lotions I’ve ever used, beautifully scented and easy to use it sinks in almost instantly and leave you without that sticky feeling and ready to get dressed.
This is the new scent variation I was kindly sent from Nivea in fresh cucumber and Macha tea, it’s exactly what you need to keep your skin lightly fragranced all day and deeply nourished, even on a budget. Although it’s not the most travel-friendly product I always tend to make room and bring it anyway because it works so well and I find myself sharing with friends or family if I’m travelling at the weekends
The other Nivea products I’ve been loving is this clay fresh shower wash also from Nivea, in the scent ginger and basil and although I’m normally quite a light and floral fragrance kind of girl I’ve really been liking spicing things up a bit for summer. Going for more natural earthy spicy smells this deeply cleansing shower gel, it also had a mix of natural minerals that leave your skin feeling deeply cleansed and ready to put lotion, my favourite time to use this is after I’ve been to the gym or if I’ve been out exploring for the day and I feel like I need a good wash.
I’ve been working with Nivea over the course of the summer to trial and review some of the leading family products, you can nearly always find Nivea body care on offer in Boots or Superdrug and I’ve already repurchased both of them myself since testing them. Wanted to mention I’m under no obligation to review these or post about them online but I wanted to share them as I found that both brilliant products and super wallet-friendly as well..leaving more money for that extra aperol!
So a funny story I was on the tube on my way home from work and I saw a woman holding a boots carrier bag that had four massive bottles of the Neutrogena hydro boost body gel-cream in it and I thought to myself there is no way someone buys four bottles of lotion that size without it being on offer. So I went to my nearest boots the next day and found these were on offer for under £2.50 so I had to pick one up and try it as I’ve heard so many good things about the hydro-boost facial care range and wanted to see if the body care was as good as they say. I was amazingly surprised and instantly sent my mum photos telling her that she had to go out and get herself some which being a beauty fanatic like me she of course did. Although I travel quite a lot I do like having a body lotion that comes in those nice big pump bottles that I can have on my side in my bathroom so I don’t mind that it comes in such a big size.
This formula is amazing, it’s clinically proven to leave more supple and radiant skin after the first use because it’s got its powered by hyaluronic acid which is a skincare super ingredient, capable of holding up to 1000 times its weight in water! It’s a nongreasy gel lotion formula and it sinks in not as fast as the Nivea one but if I’ve had a long bath or if I’ve been out in the sun and my skin is dehydrated and this is amazing for putting moisture straight back in.
I’ve also got the body butter which I love and my mum has tried the body lotion mist and says that’s just as good as well so overall I’m really looking forward to trying some more of the hydroboost range especially the facial care range which I wanna give ago this winter, but overall its an amazing body gel cream texture that I’ve not seen on the High Street before.
So I’ve also got to throw in a new fake tan that I’ve been trying this summer and this is the purity gel tan from St Tropez, not the cheapest tan but these bottles last me a really long time and it’s the most natural colour. Ihe reason I tried this one is because I’ve been using the St Tropez express mousse for about two years now I absolutely love the results but I don’t love is the smell and the having to rinse it off after. What I loved about the purity gel is that you don’t need to rinse and they even say that you can put it on in the morning and then put clothes straight over the top and watch the colour develop through the day. Having tried this for myself I can say that the claims are absolutely true and it’s the most natural warm tone, with no orange and not too much green tone either. I just feel bronzed and healthy, I wouldn’t say it’s the darkest colour if you’re looking for something super dark and dramatic then this probably isn’t the one for you but for a day to day weekly tan this one is really nice. The smell is tropical but it doesn’t linger, the texture is really light and fresh and easy to put on and I’ve yet to find any streaks which considering I am not a pro-tanner is very impressive.
Lastly is a slightly pricey item that I actually found in TK Max and this is the aromatherapy associates body gel in rose. The most amazing find because it’s a full-size product and it retails for £37 in Space NK but I found mine in TK Max with brand-new packaging for £15, this particular blend is meant to renew your skin so it’s a gorgeous blend of Rose and geranium essential oils which leaves your skin feeling very plump and radiant but it actually leaves are really gorgeous scent as well. So I found when I wear this I would focus on putting it on my chest shoulders and arms because then I would be sure I could smell it all day long, again because this is a gel it’s so quick to apply in the mornings or to quickly pop on your legs before going out in the evening.
This Summer I’ve been loving the gel-lotion formulas because I find that if I’m hot and sweaty and running around trying to get out the house the last thing I want is a lotion that’s gonna sit on my skin and feel sticky, because that I find that makes me really stressed I’m trying to get ready in the morning and my lotion is all wet, I usually end up using a towel to just wipe it off which is such a waste! Using a gel means it’s super lightweight and fresh and if you pick the right ones you’ll be left smelling gorgeous all day long. I find the cheaper ones the scent doesn’t linger as much but normally I’ll be putting sunscreen on top anyway so it doesn’t matter.
That’s it for my Summer body care round up some of these items I will definitely continue to use into the autumn and winter like the Nivea clay fresh shower gel I will definitely keep using for the gym because I absolutely love it, especially after I’ve been really sweating. The St Tropez tan I may try something darker in the winter just as my skin won’t be as tanned naturally and the both of the lotions I will definitely continue to use into the winter as they’re so easy to use for day to day hydration.
