With Christmas over and normality resuming I decided to start really using my stash of products instead of buying new ones, I’ve rediscovered a couple of my absolute holy grail products. My winter makeup look is a medium coverage satin finish base, a glowy blush, emerald green eyeliner which I have been obsessed with and lots of black mascara.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in “Mood Exposure” –
I had my makeup done for my 21st birthday at Hourglass counter and just fell in love with this blush. A perfect mauve colour with a pale pink highlight running through it, the way these blushes are baked instead of pressed means they give the nicest glow to the skin. I’ve been wearing this every day for the last couple months and have barely touched the surface of it. Although it’s definitely one of the more expensive pieces of makeup I own, the packaging and the finely milled powder means it’ll last forever.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in “Opal” –
I was first introduced to this wonder base at a
blogger event with Bare Minerals and Selfridges in October.
I’d put it somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and a light foundation, I’ve reached for it a tonne in the last month because it’s so light and nourishing to my skin I never have to worry about it giving me dry patches. This complexion rescue has such an interesting consistency it’s got a slightly whipped feel that sinks into the skin like a moisturiser would. I tend to use this on down days where I need something lighter, a top up of coverage with a bit of concealer and finish with a pressed powder and it makes my perfect everyday natural look.

Something I’ve learnt in the last couple of months is that nail polish is something that’s worth spending a little more money on, after my love affair with Leighton Denny polishes this summer I decided to give Essie a go after hearing such great things. Although I used to use Barry M pretty much exclusively I’ve found that using slightly more expensive polishes means that it lasts longer, gives a shinier finish and leaves my nails less dry and in better condition when I take it off. This deep maroon polish is so shiny and I can normally get a full 8/9 days without chips, I’ve been liking having slightly shorter more rounded nails a la Carly @ The College Prepster.

Not a beauty fave but definitely a recommendation
White Company Candle in “Winter” –
My amazing best friend Jazz (aka
) gifted me my first white company candle last Christmas and I loved it. My parents bought me one for Christmas this year and again I’m obsessed, it fills my room with such a warm luxurious scent and lasts and lasts. Lighting it for just half an hour before bed or when I sit at my desk to do some dissertation work (yawn) it relaxes me completely.
So that’s what I’ve been loving this January, rediscovering some old favourites is like shopping without spending a penny. Are there any holy grail makeup pieces I need to try this spring?
Let me know

I LOVE your blog layout girl! I love BareMinerals products, too – they're always so light and natural. I feel like with your skin/hair coloring being similar to mine, you might love Becca Champagne Pop highlighter or Benefit's Hoola bronzer. They've been part of my ride or die collection for a while now!
